Why Fire Protection and Life Safety Are Important

1. Save lives!

Of course, saving lives is the number-one goal of fire protection, and the industry is incredibly good at it. Many statistics prove this benefit, but here is one good number from NFPA research: buildings with operating fire sprinklers lower civilian deaths by 89%.

2. Protect property!

Different fire protection systems have unique priorities, but they always help protect property. Fire sprinklers effectively control fires in 96% of incidents in which they operate, reducing damage and giving firefighters time to get there.

3. Reduce liability!

Properly installed and maintained systems can avoid deaths, injuries, property damage, loss of insurance coverage, lawsuits, and even criminal charges, the latter sometimes seen in fatal fires involving negligence.

Systems often stop a fire so effectively that it’s a minor incident—just an inconvenience. For example, the news is filled with stories about protected restaurants that reopen the same day after a fire, while others burn to the ground without fire protection systems.

4. How QRFS helps:

  • We provide easy access to quality parts and information resources that explain fire protection equipment and rules.

  • Our mission is to improve safety and compliance by making this sometimes-confusing world simpler and easier for everyone—especially building owners and managers!
